What is counselling?
Counselling is a private and supportive space where you can talk about what is happening in your life, explore your thoughts and feelings, and work toward meaningful change.
How do I know if counselling is right for me?
Counselling may be helpful if you are feeling overwhelmed, lonely, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. Many people also come to counselling because they want a space to reflect and understand themselves better.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is usually a chance for us to get to know each other, talk about what has brought you to counselling, and discuss what you would like support with. You do not need to prepare anything in advance.

How long is each session?
Sessions usually last around 50 minutes.
How many session will I need?
There is no set number of sessions. Some people benefit from short-term support, while others prefer longer-term counselling depending on their needs and goals.
What will we talk about?
We will talk about whatever feels most important to you. This may include anxiety, stress, relationships, grief, self-esteem, life changes, past experiences, or feeling stuck in repeated patterns.
How will I know if counselling is helping?
You may notice things changing gradually, such as feeling calmer, more confident, or being able to cope easier. We will also check in together on regular basis to make sure that the work is shifting and it is what you are hoping for.

What if I feel nervous about starting?
When you’ve spent a long time being strong, hiding your stress, or keeping up appearances for the outside world, lowering your guard can feel incredibly vulnerable. Feeling nervous is simply your mind and body acknowledging that you are doing something new, brave, and deeply important for yourself.
What if I am not sure you are the right counsellor for me?
Finding the right fit for your heart and mind is incredibly important. Your counsellor is someone who will walk alongside you through vulnerable and challenging times, so feeling safe and comfortable is essential.
To help you decide, we can start with a brief, free consultation. This is a good opportunity to share what you're looking for, ask any questions you might have, and see how it feels to talk with me.
If we find we aren’t the perfect fit, please don't be discouraged. Every therapist works differently, and your comfort is what matters most. If needed, I am more than happy to help point you toward other trusted colleagues or professional bodies (like the BACP) to ensure you find the right support for your unique journey.
